چکیده
Physiological features were examined of a 20-year-old Vitis vinifera ‘Italia’ table grape vineyard cropped in Apulia, Italy. Healthy vines with no foliar symptoms and any indications wood or berry alterations, natural infections by Phaeoacremonium minimum (syn. P. aleophilum) Phaeomoniella chlamydospora showing brown streaking symptoms, naturally infected minimum, Fomitiporia mediterranea white rot surveyed. Bleeding xylem sap, collected at bud-break from healthy showed the greatest total ascorbic acid level, while had viscosity coefficient, glutathione concentration, plant growth regulator activities. Compared to vines, leaves affected sampled during unfolded leaf, fruit setting, cluster closing bunch ripening vine stages, reduced fresh dry weights, chlorophyll concentrations, increased leaf surface area. Low weak redox state, moderate levels dehydroascorbic oxidized also detected these vines. Analyses activities dehydroascorbate reductase, ascorbate free radical reductase diseased The cell membrane damage, associated lipid peroxidation, was coupled high hydrogen peroxide concentrations. These changes could contribute death symptom development. ascorbate-glutathione cycle supports grapevine susceptibility Esca complex-associated fungi.

Molecular and phenotypic characterisation of novel Phaeoacremonium species isolated from esca diseased grapevines
Petri disease and esca are very destructive grapevine decline diseases that occur in most countries where grapevine (Vitis vinifera) is cultivated. Phaeoacremonium species are among the principal hyphomycetes associated with symptoms of the two diseases, producing a range of enzymes and phytotoxic metabolites. The present study compared the phylogeny of a global collection of 118 Phaeoacremoniu...
متن کاملBacteria in a wood fungal disease: characterization of bacterial communities in wood tissues of esca-foliar symptomatic and asymptomatic grapevines
Esca is a grapevine trunk disease (GTD) associated with different pathogenic fungi inhabiting the woody tissues. Bacteria can also be found in such tissues and they may interact with these fungal colonizers. Although such types of microbial interactions have been observed for wood diseases in many trees, this has never been studied for grapevine. In this study, the bacterial microflora of diffe...
متن کاملImplementing a policy for practitioners infected with blood-borne pathogens.
Healthcare practitioners infected with blood-borne pathogens may pose a risk to patients. There is disagreement about how to best protect the health of patients without unjustifiably restricting the autonomy of infected practitioners. There are no accepted national standards to guide Canadian hospitals in policy development. We implemented a policy for practitioners infected with blood-borne pa...
متن کاملDraft Genome Sequence of the Ascomycete Phaeoacremonium aleophilum Strain UCR-PA7, a Causal Agent of the Esca Disease Complex in Grapevines
Grapevine infections by Phaeoacremonium aleophilum in association with other pathogenic fungi cause complex and economically important vascular diseases. Here we present the first draft of the P. aleophilum genome sequence, which comprises 624 scaffolds with a total length of 47.5 Mb (L50, 45; N50, 336 kb) and 8,926 predicted protein-coding genes.

patients. The demonstration led to the realization that an exotoxin was produced in the experimental animal but it took many experiments and much subsequent work to define the conditions whereby such an exotoxin could be isolated and purified under laboratory conditions. The work was slow because there were many who did not believe that such an exotoxin could possibly exist. Simultaneously, par...
